Tummy time!

Heidi has never been a fan of tummy time, but slowly she is liking it more and more. She especially likes the hardwood, so she is able to scoot around easier. Here is a glimpse into her general routine.

Happy with her toys.

What's all the fuss, Mom? This is easy!

She loves wiggling her arms and legs. She is able to scoot backward with her arms, but she feet are not yet sure what to do.

This is too frustrating!

I'm done, Mommy!

Heidi's first food attempt: Squash

I have now given up on rice cereal after a few failed attempts and am starting to give Heidi some vegetables to see if she may like them instead. I had made and frozen acorn squash for her a couple of months ago in ice cube trays, so I pulled one out for her today.

She was very curious of the food and tried to put her hands directly in the bowl.

So far so good. She's excited about the situation.

She is not too thrilled about the squash.

Close-up of the damage.

Not too sure about eating yet. This is moments before she starts to cry.

The end result.

Heidi did eat a little of the squash, so this is a start. Little by little she will begin to eat more. I am not in a hurry though, I just want her to get a taste of different foods.

Downtown Seattle weekend

Last weekend we were able to get two free nights at the Hyatt downtown Seattle through Andy's company. What we didn't realize at the time was the Saints team also stays there during games. We met one of them on the elevator and exited the hotel with two big groups of fans waiting for their autographs. It was too, too bad they lost... :).

We did not have tickets, so we walked around downtown with our friends Tony and Julie to Pike Place Market and the Sculpture Garden. We ventured to Belltown Sunday morning to check out Mars Hill Church Downtown. It was a very cold, but fun weekend! We even tried some of the famous Beecher's mac and cheese. It was delicious. Heidi, though, fell asleep right as we entered the restaurant, so we will have to go back when she can try it out too.

We attempted to go to the Starbucks on the 40th floor of the Columbia Tower, but it was closed. We were thankfully able to find another Starbucks to get our coffee and scones. You never know how far you will have to go to find one in Seattle. :) Heidi fell asleep right when we got there (this is becoming a trend) so we set her down on one of the comfy chairs. She amused quite a few folks.

Once she woke up, she starting chewing on her shoe. Actually, her new favorite chew toy are the cardboard coffee sleeves, which she thoroughly enjoyed a few times during the weekend.

We had to take a family photo with the pig at Pike Place!

We were at the top of the hill at the Sculpture Garden. We wanted to get the ferry in the photo and just barely made it. They move faster than we thought! It was absolutely freezing up there, but we had a good time and the rain held off for us. Heidi even got to play with some toys in the indoor community building.
