Christmas Tree Adventure

So after spending time with my family for thanksgiving we went out and got a Christmas tree in the forest. After getting the permit in Enumclaw we headed out hwy 410 towards our usual Rainer camping spot. Big group this time 10 people, 4 rigs, Me, Julie, and Heidi in our jeep, Stuart, Lucas, and my Mom in Lucas’s 89’ XJ, Tony and Julie in their TJ, and Kyle and Joanna in his Tacoma.

We aired down in the first large clearing and made out way up past all the big groups along the plowed section of the road. It ceases to be plowed at the turn off to 7550. We forged ahead, Kyle got stuck, Lucas pulled him out. Eventually we got to a mildly steep grade where the ruts were just too deep for the Tacoma to maintain forward momentum. We hooked up the strap to the XJ, and after winch ahead to some fresh traction the plowed ahead like a train to the clearing where we stopped and looked for our Christmas trees. All the girls hung out by the Jeeps and didn’t climb the steep mountain in search of the perfect tree. Heidi wore her new snow suit that she got from her Grandma. She stayed warm and even made a snow angel, well we kind of had to move her arms in the snow to make it work. I found a good 15’ tree and drug it back to the car from its perch on the mountain. We stuck it on top of Lucas’s rig because we’ve only got the soft top for the JK. Tony took a great shot of Mount Rainier as the sun was going down on the way back.

We got our trees!

Heidi's first camping trip

We went camping when Heidi was only 4 and a 1/2 weeks old in July. We went up the Cle Elum River and camped along it and then did some Jeeping the next day. We wanted to pick huckleberries, but they did not have the best season and we couldn't find any! This was definitely Heidi's best camping trip out of the 3 that we took this past summer. Hopefully next summer she will do better.

Our campsite at the river.

The waterfall.

Heidi's crazy hair - she had so much back then!

Off-roading - what a great view!

Family photo!

Heidi and Daddy hanging out

Heidi loves being outside!

Video at the campsite. Heidi's yawning definitely takes after Andy.

The wiggles!

Heidi and Daddy playing. Even at 4 weeks old she loved standing! I like how Andy thinks she is ready to walk in this video. He has very high expectations for her!

Videos of Heidi - 1 week old

Here are a couple of videos that I took when Heidi was one week. I actually haven't taken that many videos since then, especially this long. She is just keeping me more busy now! Sorry that they are so long. I was (and still am) a new mom, what can I say? I will not get offended by any means if you only last through the first 10 seconds or so. :) One of them is of her hiccuping, which she did so much at the beginning and now only rarely does. They grow up so fast!

Heidi crying 2 weeks old

Here is one of our first videos of Heidi from when she was about 2 weeks old and crying. She had a full head of hair back then, which she lost, and now is trying to grow back!
